Hearty support from the church
~ Zoe ~

Hi everybody. My name is Zoe.

My husband, my 5-year-old boy and I immigrated to Birmingham at the end of July, 2021.

I attended the church of God in Hong Kong but my husband did not believe in The Lord Jesus yet. When I knew that the church was holding a zoom meeting called ‘Friends in Birmingham’, I enrolled myself in it. It was a very good meeting and the brothers and sisters shared with us a lot of information. Soon I decided to immigrate to Birmingham.

Brothers and sisters of the church started to help renting a house for us but we were refused by many owners because we had not arrived in Birmingham yet and we had not proof of income either. Brothers and sisters suggested our renting an Airbnb and gave us advice on locations for better convenience and safety.

I was grateful to God. On the day we landed we were told that an owner agreed to rent us a house. It’s in Mosely, adjacent to an outstanding school catchment area. We were much relieved. Then we started ordering and setting up furniture and buying a car. With the proof of address, we started looking for a school for my little boy. In September, an outstanding primary school accepted him and he adapted to school life shortly. He has met many classmates and enjoys going to school.

Having settled with matters about the school, we started to plan for the house purchase. Thank God that from our landing, renting a house, buying a car to purchasing a house, we received so much information and sharing of experience from brothers and sisters. They even accompanied us in property visits and gave us much advice. Finally we chose to buy a property in Kings Heath, next to Moseley, within a good secondary school catchment area.

There are many brothers and sisters living near Moseley and Kings Heath within distances of only 3-4 minutes drive. We take care of each other like a family. Once when we were sick they made soup for us and brought us the groceries or needy stuffs. We were so touched. Every now and then we have meals together in respective houses and we can feel the warmth among us. There is no feeling of depression even in winter.

As daytime in winter is short and it is too cold outdoors, the church has been booking for us indoor venues for exercises and ball games. Various events, big and small, have also been held. I have been here for more than half a year and I am really adapted to the life here. We thank God that people gathered around us are familiar and support and help are so handy. Finally I really have to thank God for bringing my family to the UK.
