Hi !  My name is Shuxian. I am a first-year university student.

I had studied in  a Christian primary school (Mersey Park), I used to sing hymns and pray in school and I liked singing the hymns, but I didn’t really know God personally. To me back then, He was just a person in the sky.

When I was in year 6 (11 years old), I was first brought to church by a friend that also came to church. When I first came to this church, I realised that the atmosphere was so different from what I had ever experienced before, this place was so filled with love and everyone looked after me from the moment we met. At first, I didn’t understand how everyone could be so nice.

Over time, I started to be interested in getting to know God and I realised that it’s because God has so much love for us that we can learn how to love others. The more we experience and enjoy God’s love the more we can appreciate this world and the people in it that He has created. 

A year later, I decided to get baptised. I can’t recall much from that day because it felt like everything happened so fast, but I remember feeling very touched. Because I knew that Jesus died on the cross for us to save us and by getting baptised I was showing Him that I accept Him as my saviour. After believing and drawing closer to God more I saw a gradual change in myself, I used to be extremely shy and hesitated in talking to people but through God I started to find more confidence. 

I’m grateful for this household of God because it’s given me so much, so much warmth, support and everyone is so precious in God’s family. It makes me so happy to see this family grow together and strengthen through God.
