One night, as I had to attend a course in the evening, I rested in the hospital hostel after work alone and slid into sleep on the sofa. It was around 5 to 6 p.m. in the afternoon. Suddenly I found that I could not move from head to toe. I was conscious and clearly felt that something had pinned my body down. With my belief in Jesus, I knew that we had the power to cast out the evil spirit in God’s name. Though I could not speak, I said in my heart immediately, “In Jesus’ name, I now command you, evil spirit, to leave my body immediately.” Then I felt the spirit that was pressing on me left. I experienced that the one I believe is the powerful and resurrected Saviour. He will protect people who belong to Him.

Actually, after being a nurse for more than twenty years, I have encountered lots of separation between loved ones in life and death in my daily work. I once gave CPR to a five-year-old boy who had been drowned. And I had also seen a young patient in his early thirties, though scheduled for discharge on that very day, got a sudden heart attack and finally died sadly after the medical staff’s efforts in saving him. All these made me profoundly realize that death, which seems so distant but in fact is at our door. We think that many things can be controlled and grasped in our hands, yet there are still some that are out of human’s control. Strikes often come unexpectedly. At that time who can we rely on?

It’s precious that today I can find refuge in The Lord Jesus. No matter what situation I have to confront, I can still feel peaceful and safe.
