The Church of God in
Birkenhead
We Stand for Lives Changed by Christ

Birkenhead is close to Liverpool. It’s just a small town with a population of less than 90,000. In 2012, some senior brothers and sisters went to Birkenhead to pay a visit to the sisters there. Seeing how they treasured the love for God in so many years, we built the church in Birkenhead at the end of 2012.
In the beginning, though there were only eight of us meeting in a small room, it was precious God was with us. In the following three years, there were continuously brothers and sisters coming respectively from Hong Kong, Canada, and other districts in the UK to help in setting up gospel meetings and the road of gospel preaching was widened. In the recent few years, brothers and sisters from Hong Kong and other cities in the UK also came to give us support, making God’s family in Birkenhead grow steadily and experience the blessings brought forth from a unified church.
Looking back, we found how God’s encouragement, presence and blessings enabled us to stride along with our heads up even in adversities.

VISION + MISSION
Live
in Love with God;
Live out and Build His Household
The Attraction of Living in Harmony
In the 90’s, God also successively led a group of university students from Hong Kong to have their accommodation near the church’s meeting place. They loved each other and pursued God together. The warmth and joy in God’s family attracted many brothers and sisters and their friends to stay in the meeting place, sharing thoughts about their life and beliefs and having meals together. Then they believed in God one after the other. Even their English college teacher Robin gradually integrated into the life in God’s family and was baptized later to follow Jesus and live with the brothers. At that time, the church began to set up English group meetings to shepherd brothers and sisters and reach out to English speaking friends.
our core values
The Treasures in Birkenhead Church
There is a Chinese saying, “Elders are treasures.” We thanked God that He opened a way for the elders. One by one they were saved, longed for God and treasured God’s home. As what is said in the Psalms:
‘They are planted in the house of the Lord; they flourish in the courts of our God. They still bear fruit in old age; they are ever full of sap and green, to declare that the Lord is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.’
What’s more precious is that a few couples have both spouses believing in God. They came to meetings and walked God’s way hand in hand.
The Starting of Children’s Work
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
Encouraged by these two verses in the bible, in mid-2013, we started our children’s work. As what we had in hand was no more than five loaves and two fish, we relied a lot more on God’s grace. In that year, two sisters, after their baptism, immediately took up the children’s work.
We began to have Sunday school starting from having three children to now having two big groups: the junior group (Year 7 to university) and the kids’ group (4 to11- year-old).
"Light of Dawn" Meeting
Every Sundays’ ‘Light of Dawn’ meetings have been carried out for years. Through these meetings, many non-believers have come to know God and many of them have changed from being friends of the church to becoming brothers and sisters. Hallelujah!
The Great Commission
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28:19
